Currently sailing a Lippincott 30 out of Jacksonville Florida. I know my way around boats, bring good skills (boat and medical), can cook if needed, am very low maintenance and work hard, can take direction (married 50 years and retired Army as well) and can tell a story or two. I have served as safety officer for a (almost) Transpac boat, but that's another story.

I also have 2 old captains licenses from Sweden. I now crew races on the Chesapeake, mostly as trimmer and tactician. Mainly on sport boats and J70s. Comments: I have experience cruising in the Chesapeake and completing DELMARVAs and offshore trips to Stamford, CT. I'm a beginner racer but young, full of spunk and looking for opportunities to improve my sailing and racing. I am interested in racing or a return and willing to fill in and learn whatever skills may be needed. Although, I'm highly fascinated with developing tactical skills and a strategic racing mindset. I consider myself low maintenance and I'm focused on being an asset and not a liability.

Comments: 58 year old physician with no racing experience, wanting to learn, with 45 years experience on the water in coastal and offshore NC, VA, Bay, on power and sail, as well as commercial fishing (shrimping, once upon a time; comfortable on the water at night). Know my way around boats fairly well, cruised Sabre 402 out of Irvington for a while until family voted for power and now have 40 foot power on Back Creek, but I still want to sail. It may work best this year for me to do the return trip, so I won't be offended if that is what I am offered.

Comments: I am interested in either a race team or return delivery crew. I am 27 years old and currently reside in Annapolis and I work as a PA-C in Neurosurgery As a brief synopsis of my sailing experience, I started sailing while I was in high school and then sailed competitively in college with the Salisbury Sailing Team where I was the team captain/president for 3 of the 4 years that I was on the team. I sailed both FJs and 420s. During this time I also worked as a sailing instructor for Gibson Island Yacht Club and the Annapolis Sailing School. I have raced on J22, J24, J80 and have extensive experience (9 years) as crew for J30 “Shamrock” out of EYC, where we have participated in both short course and long distance racing. I have bareboat chartered in the BVI on a Beneteau Oceanis 43 as well as extensive Chesapeake Bay cruising experience. Additionally, I have worked for Dream Yacht Charters and their catamarans, including the Bali 4.0 and Lagoon 450 which included a delivery from Annapolis to the Bahamas as part of a 3 man crew. I am a qualified independent watch stander and expect to have my USCG captains license by May 2022. Thank you so much for your time and consideration!

Position: Pit,Grinder,Jib Trimmer,Main Trimmer,Helm,All Positions

Comments: I’ve been a cruiser for the last 15 years. Before that, a windsurfer and before that, a racer on small dinghy boats. I have a Pearson 31 and won the Sippy Cup (North Bay) race about 5 years ago – so I still love racing. I’ve single handed to and around the Bahamas (from Baltimore), chartered in the BVIs a couple times, owned three 30’ sailboats. I’ve short crewed with friends back from the USVIs (to Baltimore), and from the Bay to Maine and MA. I’ve crewed on several 35’ racing boats out of Annapolis but it’s been a while. I know the challenges of getting along well in closed quarters and have never had problems with that (my time as a Navy submariner probably helped). I worked for J-World for a couple years as a Coach. I’ve done some other minor teaching in the Baltimore area. I’ve only been to Bermuda once on a cruise ship so I’d love to do this race. I’m pretty good with troubleshooting/repairing most rigging, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, etc. boat issues. I’m currently planning on single handing to Buzzard’s Bay in July but would move that back if I could do this race. I’d prefer the race but would do both over and back or just back.

Comments: I'm interested in finding a great boat to crew on for A2B! I am good under pressure, have blue water experience, and have been sailing (as crew and skipper) since I was a kid. I grew up sailing small boats in Oriental, NC and graduated to big boats in 2002 (crewing on 35-52' monohulls and catamarans in NC; Chesapeake Bay, MD; and BVI). I took my ASA certifications in 2015 (ASA 101, 103, 104, 114), then began skippering on week-long charters 2016-today -- BVI, Grenadines, St Maarten/St Barths, Seychelles. I'm hoping to get more experience racing as crew in Annapolis in 2022 leading up to the A2B. I have only raced three times, but as skipper was able to do pretty well in my class -- came in first in class last race I skippered due to a great tactician and getting crew prepped the day before on sail trim and smooth tacking. I’ve been in some difficult sailing situations – knock down in storm off Bermuda and lost rudder cable in 4-6 foot seas off St Maarten – and know that I get calm and more focused in tough situations. When stuff isn’t hitting the fan, I’m easy going. I’m interested in getting more blue water and the finer points of sail trim in an ocean race. Need crew? Call me!
