Comments: First Timer looking for a boat!
It's been very difficult to find someone willing to take on a newbie; but I assure you, you will not regret it! I have no experience in Ocean Racing but i'm trying hard to get into this amazing sport. I'm new to racing and sailing but not to the water! I grew up in the waters of Jamaica Bay and coastal southern Long Island and currently own a Catalina 25 which I single hand in Jamaica Bay and south shore of LI. I have done a little racing in Huntington Bay on Wednesday nights in the summer on board Strider. I love the thrill of the race and the camaraderie of the crew but the race is just over to soon! I've been looking to get into offshore racing and willing to take on any position. I will do whatever necessary to enter this awesome sport. I'm hard working, quick to learn, easy to get along with, a decent cook and willing to do any job to learn and gain experience. I currently hold a Coastal Masters Mate 50 ton, i'm CPR qualified, NY State First Responder certified and I crewed 2 seasons on FDNY Fast Rescue Boats in NY. I will have my International Offshore SAS certification by April 2023. I also have US Sailing 101 Basic Keelboat and ASA 105 Coastal Navigation. Willing to travel and pay my way. Very eager and excited to crew on any boat willing to train a novice.

Position: Pit,Grinder,Jib Trimmer,Main Trimmer,All Positions
Experience: Intermediate
Comments: Hello! My name is Gaura, I'm from Long Island and I would like to participate in the ALIR this year. I have racing experience, but not offshore experience, and am eager to participate. I have crewed on various J-Boats including a J92s, J122, and J80. I've mostly sailed out of Port Jefferson and Mt Sinai, however if you're based in Huntington or more Western Suffolk/Nassau county I would be more than happy to join you on weeknight races to practice before the ALIR. I've mostly done Trimmer/Pit/Main positions but am open to any position, and am eager to learn and improve my skills. Please reach out via email or text if you are interested, hopefully we can sail together soon!
