Comments: I have completed one Pacific Cup (2016) and two Vic-Maui Races (2010 and 2012), and love the offshore racing experience, especially surfing at 24 knots!! I am a very experienced sailor having raced one designs and competed in recent Laser Masters Worlds in 2009 and 2014. One thing experience has taught me is that the best qualities of great offshore sailors is being a team player, perseverance, while being competitive. The Ocean is a tough place so being positive and a moral boost is important as well. Preparation is key so I have all my offshore training completed and up to date. I am often described as a “Jack-of-all-Trades” and willing to do any task or position on the boat, and I love trimming and having the gas pedal in my hands along with getting better at driving. And I also realize that preparing food and cleaning the head is a necessary chore to living aboard. I am looking for a competitive ride, best of luck to everyone and looking for to a big ALOHA!! on the other side. Resume available on request. Terry.

Position: All Positions
Experience: Intermediate
Comments: I am interested in crewing on return passage from Hawaii back to California. I am 38 years old, in good shape. I am an environmental attorney for the State of California. I have skippered for 8 years on the Bay on a Cal-20. I mostly sail recreationally, so lots of sailing experience, but limited racing experience. Additionally, I have skippered a bareboat charter in the Caribbean (Oceanis 393 in St. Lucia and St. Vincent & the Grenadines) and from Santa Barbara out to the Channel Islands on a Catalina '42, and a few years back I crewed on a Catalina-Morgan 440 from San Francisco down to Catalina. I don't have bluewater experience, but would like to gain some. If you are looking for crew to help bring your boat back to California after the race, please respond and we can discuss further whether I may be able to assist. Thank you.

Comments: I am 25 years old and I have been racing for 3 years (sailing for 5). I am a very quick to learn and I am willing to do any job and any position. Most of my experience is in the front of the boat (foredeck, mast, sewer) and I have done a lot of grinding work on a TP52. Multiple friends, who have done numerous TransPacs, say that they believe I am ready and qualified to do my first TransPac. This race has always been a dream of mine since I started racing. I am a team player and I am very fit. I have crewed on TP52's, Farr 40's, SC37, Tartan 101's, and Star's. I have raced in the Big Boat Series in SF on a Farr 40 and I have done Santa Barbara to King Harbor on a TP52 and Tartan 101 multiple times. I love the logistics involved with offshore racing and I would be willing to help with the coordination and planning. I am willing to supply references if desired. Thanks for your consideration!

Position: Mast,Pit,Sewer,Grinder,Jib Trimmer,Main Trimmer,Helm

Comments: I am a medical doctor who likes to race boats offshore. My two Pacific crossings include the 2016 Pacific Cup aboard Gib Black's Chaschmer and the 2009 Transpac aboard J World's J 40 with skipper Wayne Zittel. As a crew member aboard Chaschmer I spent five days helping to prepare the boat to go to sea. This time included boat maintenance, boat provisioning and crew practice in San Francisco Bay. At sea I served a regular watch on deck and rotated through the various crew positions (trim, main, grind, helm). The watch captain was Mark Maglin (CDR-USN-RET) who can be contacted upon request. During full crew activities I served in the pit, a job I like a lot because you have to be in sync with the crew members at the mast and foredeck. I was also responsible for storing the provisions, and once at sea took on the job of preparing meals for the crew and keeping the galley clean. As a physician I brought my own medical gear aboard, and spoke with crew members about medical issues at sea like sea sickness, dehydration and constipation. Although very few race boats specifically carry a sailing healthcare provider aboard, I think it is a nice position to have filled. At this time I am not looking for a pay to crew program

Comments: I have been offshore racing non-stop for almost 10 years on countless boats including the following: SC50, SC50, SC70, j24, j35, j109, j111, j120, j145, I-D35, Farr 40, Bravaria 42. I have raced 8 Mackinac races and 4 years ago I raced the Trans-Superior race for the first time and I did it again in 2015. I also added the Newport to Bermuda race to my schedule this past summer, the Miami to Nassau race in November and the Islands Race from LA to San Diego last month. In order to be able to do these races I have made many sacrifices over the years and crewed on many different boats holding numerous positions. Firstly, I am a foredeck. I have done foredeck on every boat I have raced on at some point and am very familiar with the position. With my high endurance level, I have also spent countless hours trimming main and on the helm. Additionally, I have taken several meteorology classes and am an IFR rated pilot, giving me a very advanced understanding of weather patterns.

Comments: Recent experience includes the 2017 Miami to Havana race aboard the J-125, Raisin Cane, skippered by Frank Atkinson. Served in the pit during the race, and helped bring the boat back to Miami afterwards. I was also the boat's medical doctor, and brought my own medical kit aboard. Other experience includes the 2016 Pacific Cup aboard Gib Black's Santa Cruz 50, Chaschmer. Aboard Chaschmer I worked the pit during full crew activities, and rotated through the various positions (spinnaker trim, main trim, grind, and helm) during the watches. I was also in charge of stowing all provisions before we left the dock and food preparation while at sea for ten men. Our meals were pre-cooked and frozen. I just got them ready to eat while at sea, and managed the galley. I also served as the boat's doctor. In 2009 I participated in the 2009 Transpac aboard J World's J 40 skippered by Wayne Zittel. In early April, 2017 I plan to take the two day Safety at Sea class. I am looking to participate in the 2017 Transpac in order to keep learning about ocean racing. If you are a skipper, and would like for me to begin training with your crew to see if I am a good fit, please contact me. I am able to plan my own schedule, and take time off when needed.

Comments: J/World Performance Sailing has crew berths available for the 2017 Transpac.

We have done every CA to HI race in the past decade with a mix of clients and coaches aboard top tier race boats. This isn't your standard program. Aboard our boats, everyone is an active and equal member of the team. This means that everyone participates in all aspects of sailing the boat, including grinding, trimming and of course driving. Our coaches provide 'parental supervision' and can help even advanced sailors refine their skills.

These are pay-to-play programs in which we take care of all aspects of preparing the boats, cleaning them up, and delivering back to CA afterwards. You hit the dock, have a Mai Tai or two, then check into your hotel and you are done.

For more information, please see here: http://sailing-jworld.com/transpac/ and/or contact us to receive a copy of the Team Brief and the latest availbility.
