Comments: 165lb 6’2” I grew up in Charleston and have been sailing in race week for 10+ years. Past CRW experience includes Melges 24, j24, j120, j122. I’m comfortable handling most positions but I usually handle jib or spinnaker trim. I do not need housing. Also I have a high school sailor I coach looking for his first ride in CRW. He would make a great squirrel if needed. His position is optional but I would like for him to be on the same boat as me if possible. Thanks!

Gary Valentini - 651.470.1588 - gvalen57@hotmail.com
Position: Foredeck,Mast,Pit,Sewer,Grinder,Jib Trimmer,Main Trimmer,Tactician
Experience: Advanced
Comments: I am an advanced racing and cruising sailor since 1998, beginning my sailing career as regular crew at Wayzata Yacht Club, Lake Minnetonka, Minnesota, where we have 10 racing fleets and approximately 1000 sailors. We have one of the most active and well organized racing programs in the country with nearly 80 races three times a week in our seven months season. For 18 years straight I have raced twice a week minimum from late April into November (and sometimes even the first week of December in the ice!), over 60 + formal races each year along with informal cruising and sailing. We race in all conditions—heat, heavy air, snow, sleet, and downpour rains. I have taken many club provided seminars on trim, tactic, weather, knots, and navigation over the years as well as classes through NorthU in Connecticut and our local Northern Breezes Sailing School. I also have 18 years in a row of big boat experience at our WYC Apostle Islands Station (AIS), northern Wisconsin, Lake Superior, where I have crewed and raced buoy and offshore races each consecutive year. I am also current owner since 2011 of an Oday 17 Daysailer II “Endurance” which I use to hone skills and cruise. My mainstay of racing has been in our Wayzata Yacht Club’s Capri 25 large-fleet, one design racing, of which we have up to 27 boats racing at one time. I have also raced and sailed in the Atlantic and off of San Francisco. I have heavy weather and storm experience on Lake Superior, Lake Minnetonka, and the Atlantic off Charleston S.C. as well. I made France’s national sailing magazine “Voile” in 2016 for extreme November/December sailing in Minnesota. My proficiencies are foredeck, jib/spinnaker(sym/asym)/main trim, tailing, pit, mast, tactics & strategy, and non-race helming. Comments: Have hours of sailing experience but still a beginner. I did own and sail my own boat an ODay on Lake Murray. Looking to log miles and try racing, willing to try any position and know how to take direction. I like hard work, fun and after race socializing. I sailed on the Endeavor climbed the mast 20 feet, when out on the yard and manually pulled the sail up and secured it while underway. If I can do that I can do anything.

Cheri Watkins - 4155399364 - AmericanAthena@protonmail.com
Position: All Positions
Experience: Beginner
Comments: Enthusiastic novice sailor with some racing experience in San Francisco Bay, mostly on J-105s. I’ve sailed in one offshore event (the Jr. Waterhouse) and have about a dozen hours of time on a skiff trapeze. I was ASA-certified a few years back, but never chartered, as I became landlocked. What I lack in advanced sailing techniques, I make up for with a warm smile, positive attitude, and high energy. The faster the wind blows, the better I like it! Available to sail with or without a highly experienced tactician who is flying in for Race Week. See his resume at Brent Draney.

Position: All Positions
Experience: Advanced
Comments: -My CRW plans fell through -Local, it would be hard to find crew that spends more time in Charleston Harbor -29 years old 150 lbs -Not going to try to list sailing experience. Mostly a dingy sailor. My regular things lately have been lightning (mostly driving) and J24 (driving, bow and trim). -I would prefer a sportboat ride for CRW. I'm not too interested in offshore. -If you need more than one crew, place to stay or dry storage...no guarantees, but we can talk. -Will sail for the low low price of BEER!
