1. 1 New York Yacht Club (USA 031) vs Valkyrie (US 29) Valkyrie and Gamecock rounded the windward mark with Gamecock ahead. Valkyrie extended her bow prod to set the spinnaker. Gamcock tactician (Ray Wulff) went to the stern of gamecock and verbally said, "Four boatlengths, no over lap" with swinging his hand back and forth along the transom. "Three boat lenghts, no overlap" Two boatlengths overlap" Prior to entering the zone and until Gamecocks bow prod was overlapped with the offset, their was no overlapp" As Gamcock bore away, Valkarie's bow prod struck the aft part of the port stern pulipuit from behind leaving a scratch on the aft part (Overtaking), she then bore away and round the mark. Valkarie broke rule 12, and possibly 15 although given she hit our stern pulpit, right of was never established. At no time was an overlap established between the windward mark and offset mark and the fact that the prod hit the stern pulpit on the port side on the aft area has them overtaking.
