Race Notes & Remarks: Initial Starting sequence: 1154 hrs. Start postponed due to wind. Fog in the area hindered visibility. First start on course S-A-I-A-F. Unbeknownst to RC, support boat dropped the windward mark (“A”) at coordinate B in error. It should have been at coordinate “A”. First start went off at 1250 hrs. with 3.4 knots @ 340 degrees. Wind was holding at 5 knots and dropped. RC realized that boats heading for windward mark “A” could not see the mark (yellow cylinder) because it was located a coordinate “B”. RC realized mark was miss positioned and boats were reaching over to “B” from “A”s location. RC decided some boats had an unfair advantage and decided to abandon this race. Competition was alerted as they came to “I”: on the second leg of race - abandoned. Restarted race to course S-B-I-B-F at 1350 hrs. Air dropped to 3.4 knots, with wind 2 degrees. At 14:11 hrs., competitor Riva announced they were retiring. At 14:30 hours Chances R announced they were retiring. Race Committee announced they were going to shorten the course to end at “B”. RC heard from competitors to shorten the course to the end of the second leg to “I”. Wind was dropping again. RC shortened the course to S-B-F. This race completed the day with one race in the books.
