YACHT SCORING TEAMS UP WITH WARRIOR SAILING AS THEIR CHARITABLE PARTNER

The Partnership Aims to Expand Participation and Inclusiveness Within Sailboat Racing

Yachts Scoring is proud to announce a charitable partnership with Warrior Sailing, which provides maritime education and outreach for wounded, ill, and injured service members and veterans. Warrior Sailing was of particular interest to Yacht Scoring founder Luiz Kahl, and this partnership continues his long-standing support of the organization.

Used by hundreds of race organizers and thousands of sailors in North America, the Yacht Scoring website is a powerful platform to share the Warrior Sailing story. In addition, the Yacht Scoring team will support the non-profit to raise awareness for their programs and has made a financial commitment to Warrior Sailing’s fundraising efforts.

“The Warrior Sailing mission is all about accessibility and getting people to fall in love with our sport,” remarked Ken Read, President of North Sails Group, who acquired Yacht Scoring in 2022. “Whether you start sailing as a kid or learn later in life, sailors have a unique community, and there is always an opportunity to learn more. We look forward to working with the Warrior Sailing team and wholly support their vision.”

“We win when we create smiles at Warrior Sailing camps,” commented Ben Poucher, National Director of Warrior Sailing. “Since 2014, 561 veterans have graduated from our basic level. Luiz was a close friend, and I hope he and his family are proud that the torch is being carried forward. With the support of Yacht Scoring and the North Sails Group, we aim to make our programs accessible to more participants and support these courageous warriors in their recovery.”

Warrior Sailing is committed to keeping Luiz’s legacy intact and ensuring its longevity for years to come. Debuted at the Chicago Yacht Club’s 113th Race to Mackinac, the Luiz Legacy campaign embodies the spirit of Luiz Kahl and his pursuit of inclusion in sailing. The funds raised through this Warrior Sailing donative drive will impact the mission of Warrior Sailing and help to pay direct camp expenses for the Nationwide training program.
