Champlin's Docking Instructions - Off Sounders skippers,
Here are your slip assignments for the Spring Series for Champlin’s Marina. It will be a cozy weekend with nearly 75 of the 110-boat fleet signed up! Now, we need to get you to your slips after racing with minimal confusion and delay. Find your assigned slip by using the attached map. These are also posted in the Documents section of Yacht Scoring.
Champlin’s Marina is set up with North and South Docks and Fingers, A and B sides of each and Wells in between the Fingers. A typical slip assignment indicates first the North or South side of the Main Dock that runs down the middle from the shore to Trader’s Dock Bar. If you are assigned a Dock, you are on the outer pier of the complex, North or South. The A or B side of that Dock is the side where you should tie up. The A side is inside, and the B side is outside.
The Fingers jut out perpendicular from the Main Dock. They are also designated North or South of the Main Dock and are numbered 1 to 4, starting with 1 closest to the shore. Further, the Fingers have an A and B side. The A side is outside from the shore to the East, the B side is inside.
Between the Fingers, along the Main Dock, are Wells. Boats assigned to Wells tie up stern to. Note N or S for North or South and W for Well and the number of a Finger pier. Pass the designated Finger pier and turn to back in to the Well on the Main Dock, leaving the designated Finger to the East. Be prepared with your bow lines to connect with boats along the neighboring Fingers. The number in par entices indicates how many boats are assigned to your Well. Max is 2.
A couple of boats, Peregrine and Restless, are assigned SD T. These are at the East end of the South Dock on the A and B sides furthest from the shore.
Obviously, not every boat is the same length. The slips do not have lines for spacing, so we ask the first boat to arrive on a dock please select an end to start the line up on your section. This will allow the following boats to tie up either in front or behind. Keep it close and everyone will fit in.
Stephanie is the dockmaster and she will be on hand with her crew to assist. Champlin’s monitors VHF Ch. 11. Find your spot on the map, load up your patience and have your lines ready. If you need fender boards, please bring your own.
The party is under the tent and Trader’s Dock Bar is on the East end. You should have no problem finding them.
Have a great weekend! Greg and the RC 6/3/24
