Protest Filing Report as of 16/May/2024 @ 07:52 PM

No. Race # Protesting   Protested Reason Hearing Status Jury Decision
1. 3 Aninha (USA 8159) vs Redress - Race Committee My boat was aproaching to start on the layline of the RO’s boat when the bow 79 bore away coming from windward of the RO’s boat to pass between me and the RO. How there wasn’t space, bow 79 hit your bow on my boat’s back, and after, your front stay hit my personal back. I called “protest” to bow 79 and exposed the red flag. Bow 79 didn’t made the turn penalty. With the colision, I lost the control of my boat and was pushed ahead, causing that little part of my bow crossed the starting line before the start signal. The RO noted me like BFD and I request for redress because my fault was provoked by the bow 79’s fault. Witness: the RO and the video Rules Broken: 11 03:30PM Closed Protest invalid.
1. 3 Aninha (USA 8159) vs Redress - Race Committee Bow 59 was approaching to start when bow 79 struck her from astern and forced be OCS prior to the start. This was thru no fault of her own and cost bow 59 to be scored BFD 03:30PM Closed Request Invalid, Filed Late
3. 4 Wolverine (USA 1956) vs My way (DEN 8572)
Aegis (USA 8522)
We were rounding the downwind gate right mark and going up wind. Josh's boat rounded up right after us and it seemed like they bore down before rounding up. Bow 72 "my way" seems to have hit aegis. And they both swung into our stern and making two holes. This is when we we hailed protest. 05:10PM Closed Protest invalid.
4. 4 Aegis (USA 8522) vs Redress - Race Committee Bow 8572 had no room at the mark. They crashed jibed into us causing damage to us and 8401. 05:10PM Closed Protest upheld. No further penalty given.
5. 3 Airplane! (USA 600) vs Mr. Pitiful (USA 494) We were sailing on starboard gybe, on a collision course with bow 37. They made no effort to keep clear until we bore off 20 degrees at which time they attempted to gybe. We did our best to avoid contact, but their spinnaker struck our spinnaker and shrouds. Later, they failed to give us room to avoid sail #380 which was a starboard boat who we both had to keep clear of. 06:00PM Closed USA 494 accepted 20% penalty.
6. 5 Carolina (USA 8520) vs Redress - Race Committee Umpires called us for rule 42. They didn’t notify us until 15-20 seconds after we finished. They initially misidentified us. We initially finished 6. The error and the slow notification harmed our result to 14. Had we been notified in timely manner we would have lost 2-3 boats maximum. We request a finish position of 6 because of u mpire error. 04:45PM Closed Redress not given.
7. 6 Magnum (USA 357) vs Chingon (USA 284) When sailing on starboard tack towards the first upwind mark. Vessel Chingon 284 tacked in close proximity requiring my vessel 357 to have to alter course in order to attempt to keep clear. We hailed protest, they continued to sail the course without spinning their required single spin as this was outside of the 3 boat length zone but on the final beat of the leg. 05:00PM Closed Chingon accepts 20% penalty through arbitration
8. 6 Midlife Crisis (USA 26) vs MINDSET (BRA 1226) Brazil approached Mark one on or near port tack layline, and tacked inside of a starboard tack boat. They tacked too close to the starboard tack boat and hit the mark. The mark rolled down the port side of their boat as they passed. We protested them as stated above, and they did not spin. 05:15PM Closed Withdrawn through arbitration
9. 5 8580 (USA 8580) vs Redress - Race Committee Near the finish of race #5 a judge boat blew a whistle and pointed a flag in the general direction of 8580. They then proceeded to hail 85 several times. Yacht 8580 took down their pole and did a penalty turn, losing 2 boats in the process. During their turn the judge began to hail 8520 several times We feel that yacht 8580 was materially prejudiced by the umpires action 05:00PM Closed Request for redress withdrawn.
10. 5 SDR (USA 222) vs Victory (USA 153) Did not have room at mark- came inside and made contact 06:15PM Closed USA 153 is DSQ in Race 5
11. 5 Robot Flamingo (USA 298) vs Redress - Race Committee We believe that 188 was meant to be called over and that 298 was misidentified 05:00PM Closed Request for redress withdrawn.
12. 4 Strategery (USA 246) vs Gnixe (USA 258) 246 and 258 were sailing on port tack below 258 about 100 yards from the finish line. We completed a jibe onto starboard then and 258 jibed a second or two later.. we had completed our jibe and port tack boat did not keep clear of leeward (rule 10). Then as both boat were on starboard, 258 attempted to roll 246 and their spinnaker floated down on our boat wrapping our shrouds. (Rule 11). The boat did a turn and refinished to exonerate. Witness Peter Beardsley on Glory Days 333 observed the incident as well. Race committee erroneously scored 258 in 6th place. 05:55PM Closed Gnixe (258) accepted a 25% penalty
13. 6 Superior 2 (USA 216) vs MINDSET (BRA 1226) Bow 16 was sailing on starboard for multiple minutes. Bow 12 approached on port. Bow 16 said starboard and bow 12 attempted to tack as a result bow 16 had to rapidly avoid collision. Bow 16 yelled protest bow 12 right away. 05:45PM Closed Mindset accepts a 20% penalty in arbitration
14. 5 Truckin' (USA 343) vs Greenwitch (USA 1023) Within three boat length circle Bow 20 crossed behind me and forced himself between me and the mark. 05:48PM Closed Greenwitch accepts 20% penalty in arbitration.
15. 4 Strategery (USA 246) vs Gnixe (USA 258) Scoring inquiry for protest 12 viper 640 (USA 246v USA 258) 3/8/24. Boat 258 accepted a 25% penalty in the hearing, however, on the scoring sheet as of 7:48 pm 3/8/24 Boat 258 was finished as a 5th place, but boat 246 was scored with a penalty (SCP). Requesting that RC reverses this clerical error according to results of protest. Closed Clerical error corrected
16. 8 MAQ (USA 31640) vs Marina (USA 29511) Approaching the final leg of race 8 31640 was set up to windward of 29511 on port tack going downwind about 150m from the finish. 31640 jibed on to starboard tack and hailed starboard to 29511. Both boats jibe with ample time and no contact. Upon completing the jibe 31640 establishes an overlap with 29511. 31640 did not launch whisker pole and 29511 launched hers. 31640 then began to call leeward and gave ample time to 29511 to react. 29511 did not change course after 31640 hailed leeward and there was contact.31640 hailed protest after the contact and 29511 did not take any penalty turns. 03:00PM Closed 29511 is DSQ in Race 8
17. 8 PATAKIN (ESP 949) vs Jelvis (GBR 1573) We were in the middle of the course on starboard tack at half of the first upwind leg. GBR came on port tack not crossing for about 2 meters. We had to bear away to avoi collision. We hailed protest and displayed a red flag. 02:40PM Closed Protest Withdrawn
